What is integrated marketing?
Integrated marketing is the blending of traditional direct marketing methods with digital techniques, made possible by recent technological innovations.
What do I need to bring with me?
We only require that students bring their creative spirits! All necessary materials will be provided at the event, so be sure to show up with an open mind. (A computer would be helpful, but we will have loaners available.)
What is the role of mail in marketing today?
Mail remains a powerful tool that can be used to to enhance the results of any integrated marketing or communications campaign. Thanks to USPSĀ and other innovators in the industry, mail IS digital!
How long does the event last?
DEIC is a day-long event, that does not require students to stay overnight. Between the kickoff and final presentations and judging, students are free to use their time however they see fit.
What do I get for participating?
Besides a crash-course in modern marketing strategies and a chance to compete on behalf of your school, you'll make powerful connections and learn skills that you'll take through your studies and into your career.
Who runs DEIC?
The Direct Effect Innovation Challenge is an event powered by the United States Postal Service; sponsored and hosted by various colleges, universities, and innovation centers; and operated by Maga Design Group, a creative consultancy in Washington, DC.
Who competes?
Students from various backgrounds are invited to compete, including but not limited to marketing, communications, advertising, entrepreneurship, design, etc.
What does the winner receive?
Winning teams will receive a resume-boosting certificate of achievement, and an invitation to compete in the national finals in Orlando!
